Almost is right. But only because the mirror is more than just an inanimate conduit of dark magic. The glass shimmered and the air vibrated. Nothing flashy, nothing aggressive, but the tension was suddenly so thick- almost as if that alone would deflect an attack.

That was the least of the power at work. Instead of Vio's reflection, the image wavered and changed to a view of Shadow, still asleep back in his room.
